A modern rendition of an ancient shape.
Often found in architecture, this shape lends itself nicely to jewelry in a simplistic form.
The necklace has a striking pattern repeat with fine links attaching each component.
A modern rendition of a crown-like shape reinterpreted into the form of a necklace pendant.
Like a puzzle, each piece is stitched so that it fits together in an orderly whole with dimension and proper proportions.
The necklace integrates open square motifs which mimic the same outline created in the bezels on the pendant, creating harmony and visual interest.
The lovely and talented Kate McKinnon will join us as a guest artist and speaker Thursday evening. She has masterminded two previous publications, Contemporary Geometric Beadwork, Volumes 1 & 2. These open source architectural beadwork projects collaborate with a worldwide team of innovators, and will soon be followed by a third volume in the series. Kate’s talk is sure to offer insight into the world of mathematical and otherworldly design, and inspiration for you to follow in your own beadwork.
We are thrilled to welcome you to the central coast, extending our hospitality to encourage your creativity and make you feel at home and an essential part of the group.
Join us for beading and experiencing some of what San Luis Obispo has to offer. Melanie has designed two pieces especially for this Preview Event. You will have an opportunity to enjoy a day beading at Niner Wine Estates plus a day at Melanie’s Studio. Lunches are included as well as an evening Reception.
