What is the daily schedule?
The retreat workshops are Friday thru Sunday. There is a Meet the Teachers & Welcome Reception that begins Thursday evening and officially kicks off the event. There is a Bead MarketPlace on Thursday; times will be noted in your Pre-Event Packet on the agend to all enrolled students. The Bonus Workshop is on Wednesday, July 16th for Session I and July 23rd for Session II. Friday-Sunday the group will be picked up at the hotel by bus at 8:45am each morning and dropped off at Edna Valley Vineyard around 9:00am. The classes start at 9:30am and end at 4:30pm each day. Students driving directly to the vineyard should arrive by 9:15am to allow time to setup their workspace. If you are coming from out of town you should arrive no later than Thursday evening. Please let us know if you have any travel problems.

Should I bring my own beads?
Bringing your own beads is optional. Each project has a supply list. A comprehensive Pre-Event Packet will be mailed to all confirmed students before the retreat. Bead kits for each project will also be available for students to purchase in order to help simplify bead selections. A MarketPlace will be open on Thursday to provide time for kit selection as well as at the vineyard. Kits usually come in 6-8 colorways.

I am coming from out of town, what are the accommodations?
We recommend that you make your reservations in San Luis Obispo at Quality Suites. There is a group room block in the name of Beads on the Vine with special rates for attendees. Make sure you reserve your room for the correct session. Each day a bus will transport all students to the vineyard from Quality Suites. All rooms at Quality Suites are large suite size therefore making it comfortable to share a room with one or more roommate(s) if desired. This hotel is also conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants and the center of downtown.

Do you recommend we rent a car if we are traveling by airplane or train?
Quality Suites, our partner hotel, provides complimentary airport/train pickup and drop-off service so it is not necessary to rent a car. If you prefer a cab, cab fare to the hotel is approximately $12 one-way. Beads on the Vine retreat staff is providing transportation to the vineyard each day from the hotel (round trip). Once at the hotel, downtown is within walking distance of the hotel. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes. Rental cars from car rental companies are available at the San Luis Obispo airport.
The city's free open trolley stops are also within walking distance from the hotel. The trolley travels a loop of the downtown area every 15 minutes daily during regular business hours.
